The Composting Process:

Critical to the composting process is the temperature. The compost piles are aerated and mixed with a loader, a process which is repeated on a regular basis to ensure all parts of the pile attain the temperature needed to kill all seeds and pathogens that may be in there. The compost piles are brought up to 65 degrees Celsius for several days and then turned. This is done six times. This careful monitoring ensures the piles do not become anaerobic therefore killing living organisms. The overall aim is to encourage a wide variety of beneficial micro organisms. These beneficial organisms are generally known to help suppress disease, assist in strong root production and reduce the need for fungicides. When the compost is applied, the beneficial micro organisms make their way into the soil and set about making nutrients more available and interacting with the roots.
